About the Doctor

Hee Seung Nam, MD, Orthopedic Surgeon

Hee Seung Nam, orthopedic surgeon, in a white coat

I am Hee Seung Nam, an orthopedic surgeon. I trained in tumor surgery, knee replacement and arthroscopy, and I now see patients with knee, hip, shoulder, foot and ankle problems, fractures and sports injuries in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Incheon Himchan General Hospital.

I believe the most helpful thing for a patient's decision is to explain, with evidence, when surgery is needed and when it is not.

About this site

orthonam.com is a personal site where I write up the questions I hear most often in clinic, and cases I have experienced firsthand, in terms patients and families can follow. The articles draw on the medical literature and my clinical experience. If an error is found, I correct it and show the date of the correction.

X-rays, MRI and arthroscopy images in the columns come from patients I treated myself, and I use them for educational purposes only after removing anything that could identify a person, such as names, registration numbers and faces. If you appear in an image or do not want it used, tell me and I will take it down right away.

The articles are general medical information and do not replace individual diagnosis or treatment. The views on this site are not the official position of my institution. If you find an error or need a correction, please write to doctornhs@naver.com.

Keep the last moment of life in mind, and give your best to the work you do and the people you meet today. (Memento Mori)

My background and research are also available on my official homepage (in Korean).
